While this garment may have the look of a traditional indigo denim shirt, you’ll quickly realize there’s much more going on once you touch it.
The heavyweight 9.5oz cotton / linen content makes a for a substantial and versatile summer overshirt.
Linen is an ideal year-round material because it has a hollow core, it makes it lightweight and wicking and keeps you cool with its high heat conductivity (higher even than wool and silk) even while you're working your hardest. It also allows more airflow and dries out quickly, resulting in a cooling effect (thanks enthalpy!) and prevents bacterial growth so reduces stink. Linen is admittedly wrinkly, but the addition of cotton to this fabric makes it less so. But it's also a more durable fiber than cotton and it's more abrasion-resistant, so it brings that to the table too. Growing flax is very efficient; it can grown in poor soil conditions, requires less water than cotton, and the entirety of the plant is used in the production of the fiber.
In terms of design, all the swrve details you are accustomed to can be found throughout. Side panel construction, drop tail hem, double layer shoulder, single-button cuff and buttoned sleeve placket, double pleated back yoke, and pen pocket at chest.
The triple needle chain stitching was handled by our beloved Union Special machine, the pride of our workshop fleet, and getting to fire her up is always a special occasion. Rounding out the package are a set of spiffy metal buttons we had custom made for this project.
We relaxed the fit slightly for layering in the colder months, or a more casual look in the warmer months.

THE FABRIC
The fabric is a 60% blend of cotton and a 40% blend of linen using a denim weave. The denim weave and water-efficient indigo dying process provide the classic look while the infusion of linen reduces weight while maintaining strength and adds a natural wicking capability for superior moisture and temperature management.
Linen is naturally slubby; it has nodes that create a unique overall texture in the fabric, and adds character to the denim. Please note that the denim is raw when you get it and will be a bit stiff and crisp but it will soften with each wash and mold to you with each wear.
This unique denim comes from innovative Orta Anadolu, a mill in Turkey that has been in operation since 1953. In 1985, they shifted over to exclusively producing denim, making over 65 million yards a year. Orta Anadolu operates under a philosophy of Art Meets Technology Meets Ethics and their mission is to have a sustainable manufacturing process every step of the way from raw material to finished product.
Because humans have been using linen for so long it has a rich and fascinating history (Egyptian mummies were wrapped in it! Belfast used to be know as Linenopolis!) and there are a lot of interesting etymological derivations from the word (linoleum, lingerie). If you have a minute, it's definitely worth a dive.

GENERAL NOTES ON FIT
for swrve bottoms, we strive to be as true to size as possible. most other companies offer vanity sizing, but with us, a 32 means the waist circumference of the garment is 32". we update our size guides to provide the current sizing per garment frequently.
if you have trousers of which you like the fit, measure the waist and that is the swrve size! to measure the waist, lay them flat and make sure the front and back of the waistband lay evenly across each other, then measure from side to side (fold to fold on the inside), multiply by 2 (there are 2 layers of fabric) and voilà, you’ve got your measurement.

for international customers we suggest using DHL as it tends to be the best deal. We offer $25 DHL shipping with your minimum $150 order. It will arrive at your doorstep, regardless of where you are in the world, within 5 business days, and you get to track it as it makes its way to you. USPS Priority and First Class Mail may be a bit less expensive, but they have a higher tendency to lose packages. Please note that we are NOT responsible for lost packages! UPS rates tend to be rather exorbitant and you may be faced with a custom brokerage fee NOT included in the shipping rate.
international customers: please note that you may be charged additional customs duty fees at delivery NOT included in the shipping rate. these fees vary widely from country to country and there is nothing we can do to prevent them.
